Triggers are regarded as the start of any Zap in Zapier.
If you wish to create a Zap which occurs when something new is added to Salpo, then you need to add Salpo to the Trigger.
The Salpo Zapier integration offers the following Triggers:
- When a new Individual is created
- When a new Organisation is created
- When a new Opportunity is created
- When a new Custom Module is created
Using Salpo in a Zapier Trigger
To add Salpo as a Trigger in your Zap, you need to first create a new Zap.
From the Zapier left hand panel, look for the link at the top labelled 'Make a Zap'.
After selecting 'Make a Zap', the Zapier configuration page will display and the first task will be to create the Trigger, labelled 'When this happens...'.
Search for Salpo in the search box. Select the Salpo CRM app.
Once you have selected the Salpo CRM app, the page will change and display a selection of steps and dropdowns for you to configure the Trigger.
The first dropdown will already display Salpo CRM. The second dropdown 'Choose a Trigger Event', offers the different Triggers mentioned above.
Select the required Trigger event.
Once selected, select 'Continue' and you'll move to the next step 'Choose Account'.
The Choosing Account step requires a connection with Salpo. This is where you need the API Token you've generated in Salpo (see the previous guide Zapier Setup). An API token can be generated from under the Username in Salpo, under 'API Tokens' and then selecting 'Add API Tokens'. Give it a name and copy the generated code provided.
Select the dropdown and 'Add a New Account' option.
A new window will appear. Enter your Salpo Username (the one linked to the generated API Token), Salpo API Token (referred to as API Key) and the name of the Salpo instance (you can find this in the URL address when in Salpo).
Note. You only need to use the first part of the URL before the '.lhlive.com' For example, the URL of a Salpo system could be mysalpo.lhlive.com. For the name field in the Zapier window, you would use 'mysalpo' only.
Select 'Yes Continue' once the fields have been completed.
Once the Window disappears, your account will display in the dropdown and you can continue to the next step 'Find Data'.
The 'Find Data' step will collect some live data from Salpo, related to the Trigger you selected. For example, if you have selected 'New Contact' then it will find some of the most recently added Contacts, or if it was 'New Opportunity', then the most recent Opportunities added.
Select 'Test and Continue' to proceed to the Zap's Actions. The sample data will be collected and be ready for use in the Actions.
You can check what data has been collected by clicking back on the Trigger (which will now be greyed out, then selecting the 'Find Data'. The data will show. You can change to other samples it's found from the dropdown.
You can return to the Action below to continue the setup.
The remained for the Zap, is the Actions. This will depend on the app you choose to use. You will find once connected to the Action app (following the instructions contained in the Action) that you can use the sample data collected in the Salpo Trigger to map to the fields contained in the Action.
